Crew Member for Surveyor Crew

Cash Waggner & Associates is seeking Crew Members at both our Jasper and Evansville offices. The position is full-time and the candidate will work with a crew on various design, development, and construction projects throughout the tri-state area.

Job Responsibilities:-
The Survey Crew Member is responsible for the field and office operations to provide ALTA/NSPS, Boundary and Topographic Surveys, Construction Layout, Platting, and related surveying services utilizing the latest robotics, GPS, and latest technology. There may be minimal travel.

Job Requirements:-
Candidate should possess strong technical, oral, and writing communication and presentation skills, as well as a keen understanding of land surveying principles. The ability to work in a collaborative team environment is required.

  • Ability to work outside
  • Ability to walk/climb over rough terrain
  • Ability to carry, lift, and pull equipment and material over long distances.

Survey Crew Chief

As a Survey Crew Chief either in our Evansville or Jasper offices, you will work both independently as well as with crew members conducting the field survey work relating to boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographic surveys, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeout under the responsible charge of the Registered Professional Surveyor. You will be responsible for the efficient operation of the field crew using standard operating procedures and current health and safety standards. The daily duties include the operation of robotic total stations and GPS receivers to accurately collect relevant data and information in a concise manner as well as drive stakes, take detailed notes and diagrams and maintain company equipment and survey vehicles. There would be limited traveling.

  • 2+ years survey crew chief experience
  • Skilled in the use of GPS devices, data collectors and/or Total Station
  • Work requires independent judgment and initiative
  • Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of land surveying
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and instruments used in computer aided drafting
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and construction specifications, plans, and regulations related to construction
  • Knowledge of industry specific safe workplace principles and practices.
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors under various field conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Job Responsibilities:-
Primary responsibilities include preparing drawings with CADD, assisting in plan preparation such as information gathering and plan production. Focus of responsibilities will generally be related to land surveying and civil engineering projects.

Job Requirements:-
Candidates should be able to navigate computer file systems, understand file interrelationships, and customize data with the individual files; have the ability to identify specific information from a substantial amount of related data or written information from such sources as legal property descriptions, reports, survey notes, manuals and specifications; possess the ability to read and understand the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps to interpret data and information for use in designing construction plans and maps; possess the ability to accurately transfer information in numerical, written, sketched, or electronic format from sources such as legal descriptions, survey data aerial photographs, and computer files to final plans and maps; visualize and illustrate a concept or design in two or three dimensions; identify errors, problems, or non-standard situations and suggest alternatives; develop and implement custom automated drafting and design procedures; possess software proficiency in AutoCad, Microsoft-Outlook, Word, Excel.

Civil Engineer

Cash Waggner & Associates, PC has an immediate opening for a full-time Civil Engineer.

Job Summary:-
The Civil Engineer will design, plan, and supervise the construction of site development and infrastructure projects such as buildings, bridges, roads, dams, pipelines, water, and sewage systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct field crew activities
  • Consult with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs.
  • Use design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and structures such as transportation or hydraulics.
  • Assess strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
  • Set design specifications by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar parameters.
  • Plan projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
  • Draft and presents reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions.
  • Estimate materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine project costs.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.
  • Collaborate with surveyors (or direct and participate in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards are met.
  • On completion of a project, inspect, repair, and maintain the structures as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
  • Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, bridges, roads, and other related structures.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
